Welcome to Options Hunting. This blog is a sister site of Investment Hunting. Over at Investment Hunting I blog about dividend growth investing, 401ks, IRAs, Roth IRAs, personal finance and retirement. I started Options Hunting because to some investors, dividends and options are like oil and water.
I’m starting to sell more options. I don’t blog about all of my options transactions on Investment Hunting because many of my readers don’t care about options. So, Options Hunting was born. I will post every options transaction I make on this site.
I’m a huge fan of dividend stock investing, but, I don’t believe that all stocks should be held forever. I believe there are times when it makes sense to sell stocks to capture gains. When I do sell stocks to lock in gains, I don’t let my money sit around. I use cash from stock sales to trade options. Specifically, I sell covered calls and cash secured puts. Covered calls are sold on stocks I own, while cash secured puts are sold on stocks I want to own.
The goal of every option I sell is to expire worthless. By expiring worthless I get to keep someone else’s money. In simplest terms, I sell insurance policies on stocks. If these stocks do not go above or below set strike prices, I keep the insurance premium that someone paid me. This doesn’t always happen, but when it does it sure feels good.
If you’re interested in options as a way to make extra money, please follow this site. I’m not an expert, not do I make any recommendations. All I do is lay out the strategy I’m following and report on my wins and losses.
Honestly, I’m a beginner at selling options, and I have a lot to learn. There are so many medium to advanced options techniques that I’ve read about but never tried. I’d like to learn these from all of you. Let’s use Options Hunting as a platform to share the best options ideas.
