Happy New Year everyone. Before I can say goodbye to 2016, I need to get two blog posts out of the way, this December options income post, and my December dividend income post. My December options income was on par with last month. I cracked $1,000 in options income.
December Options Income
In December, I had 14 options contracts closed or called away. One contract was called away and I bought to close thirteen contracts. My December options income total is $1,139. This is my take home, realized income. It’s the amount of money I earned after trading and transaction fees, losses from closed contracts, and any other miscellaneous costs. The breakdown of income and expenses, is as follows:
Total Revenue: $1,279.00
Net Revenue: $1,139
Closed December Option Income And Contracts
The options tracker below, shows all 14 transactions. All contracts are closed and were closed in the month of December.
Thirteen contracts were profitably closed. One contract (FLO) was assigned. I earned option premium income of $102.54 for this trade, but the overall transaction was a loss. I’ll write about this loss in detail with my December dividend income post over at Investment Hunting. Takeaway, I sold 100 shares of FLO for $15 per share, but the stock’s market value was $19.20. I lost $4.20 per share, less my premium gain of $1.09 per share for a total loss of $3.11 per share, totaling $311 dollars. It sucks to lose out on options, but I’ll take it because I made more than I lost.
Open Options Contracts
I have 12 open contracts. Total available income of my open contracts is potentially $2,007.84. Of course, I close most contracts before expiration, so my realized income is TBD.
December Options Income and Annual Options Income
December 2016 options income was better than December 2015. Last year, I earned $480.64. This year I made $658.36 more money. I also beat my 2015 options income. In 2015, I earned $3,909.34. This year I earned $5,351.38. This is an annual income increase of $1,442.04.
I’ve set a 2017 options income goal of $7,500. I’m confident I’ll be able to hit this goal. You can see all of my 2017 goals here.
